With the theme of alter ego, and October being the month of Halloween, I think this month has the highest expectations set for it in the make-up community. The bar is pretty high for make-up this month, so with that in mind, here is my review of ipsy’s October 2015 glam bag!

Company : Royal & Langnickel Moda™
Product : Standard Eyeshadow Shader Brush

IMG_7564

Product Description : Great makeup looks start with great brushes! Royal & Langnickel® MODA™ brushes are versatile, colorful and 100% Vegan. They feature durable water-resistant handles with a silk-touch no slip, grip. They’re all synthetic, professional quality brushes that can be easily cleaned and used with both wet and dry makeup.

Product Details :

  • 100% Vegan Synthetic Fibers
  • Silk-Touch™ No Slip Grip Handle
  • Water-Resistant Handle

Tip : Wet the tip of your shadow brush before dipping into your eyeshadow – apply along your lower lash line for a dramatic flare.

Pros :

  • Sturdy brush.
  • No hairs fall out.
  • Applies products easily.

Cons :

  • None that I am aware of yet.

Final Thoughts : So far I have nothing negative to say. I’ve only used the brush to apply highlighter and eyeshadow a few times. In conclusion, so far so good. If I have any new opinions or information about the brush, I will update my review.

Company : tarte
Product : deluxe LipSurgence™ skintuitive lip gloss in energy

IMG_7568

Product Description : Infused with pH-adjusting skintuitive™ technology, this sophisticated glossy lip formula is infused with rich antioxidants to help smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while delivering intense hydration and your own custom, complexion-enhancing shade of pink. ipsters who sample the lip gloss will receive the shade energy (custom pink). This skintuitive™ formula responds to your skin’s natural pH and energy, giving you a personalized tint that is truly your own unique shade.

Product Details :

  • flower extract: Drenches lips in moisture for heathy, hydrated lips
  • jojoba seed oil: Natural soothing extract that leaves lips soft, supple and smooth
  • vitamin E: Natural preservative that also acts as an emollient and antioxidant

Pros :

  • Great smell – like cotton candy!
  • Goes on easy.
  • Looks good.

Cons :

  • Like any lipgloss, it’s kind of sticky.

Final Thoughts : The custom pink shade achieved through the reaction between the lipgloss and my skin makes the perfect pink pout for me. This product has so many good qualities, I am able to overlook the stickiness that is characteristic of any lipgloss – that’s why I generally don’t wear lipgloss. For this product, I’ll have to make an exception.

My Score : 4.5 out of 5

Company : Balanced Guru
Product : Scrub Me Body Scrub

IMG_7566

Product Description : This nice and gritty organic body scrub is good for all skin types and can be used from head to toe. Use gently on your face and rough it out as much as you need to on your body. The formula is enriched with raw sugar, organic coffee, coconut oil, babassu oil and cocoa butter (plus a little spearmint and ginger to spice up your scrubbing experience).

Product Details :

  • Brightens dull skin
  • Good for all skin types

Tip : Skin cells are constantly shedding to reveal new, healthy skin underneath – using a body scrub helps this process and leaves you with glowing, smooth skin.

Pros :

  • Makes my skin soft.

Cons :

  • Very pungent odor.
  • Extremely messy.

Final Thoughts : It does work, but at what cost? I don’t like the smell, which makes it all the worse that the smell is extremely strong. Like I said above, it was also messy – messy like spilling glitter on the carpet messy. It was everywhere and I couldn’t get it all up. All in all, I’m not that crazy for the product. It did it’s job, but I’m turned off of the product by the cons.

My Score : 2.5 out of 5

Company : Nourish Organic

Product : Pure Hydrating Argan Face Serum

IMG_7563

Product Description : This highly concentrated face treatment is designed to deeply hydrate and reveal smoother, softer and more supple skin with improved tone. Moroccan argan oil, packed with restorative omega fatty acids, intensely hydrates and replenishes. Apricot kernel oil moisturizes and softens skin while helping retain clarity. Rosehip oil smoothes skin texture and helps even out tone.

Product Details :

  • Fragrance-free, gluten-free, and vegan
  • Brightens and revitalizes complexion
  • Smoothes texture and helps even out tone

Tip : Use this face serum when your skin is in need of some regeneration.

Pros :

  • Smells good.
  • Made my skin feel nice and smooth.

Cons :

  • Makes me feel a little oily when I put it on.

Final Thoughts : I like the product, but I tend to shy away from oils because I feel like they breed acne (just my opinion). It made my skin feel a little oily but it seemed to do what it is supposed to do. I’m wary because of the fact that it is an oil, but the product seems to be pretty good overall.

Score : 3 out of 5

Company : theBalm Cosmetics
Product : Mary-Lou Manizer

IMG_7565

Product Description : Meet Mary-Lou Manizer, a seemingly innocent honey-hued luminizer that catches everybody’s eye. This highlighter, shadow and shimmer diffuses light so your skin looks softer and younger while adding a subtle glow.

Product Details :

  • Gorgeous highlighter, shadow and shimmer
  • Universally flattering shade
  • Cruelty-free and contains no parabens or talc

Tip : Brow bones. Cheek bones. Corner of the inner eye. Cupids bow. Apply this highlight to these four areas and you’ll have a gorgeous glow.

Pros :

  • Goes on easy.
  • Looks great.

Cons :

  • None that I am aware of yet.

Final Thoughts : This highlighter is different than any other highlighter I have used, as I have only tried a pencil/crayon highlighter and a liquid highlighter. However, as far as the differences goes, it seems that this product is almost better than the other two types of highlighter I have tried previously. If I have any new opinions or information about this product, I will update my review.

Least Favorite Product : Scrub Me Body Scrub from Balanced Guru

Final Thoughts : Overall, I’m content with my October 2015 glam bag. There is only one product I was not impressed with, and only one I was moderately wary of. I was happy with the rest of the glam bag.
